The Institute of Business Administration

University and Faculty in Numbers

A total of 25.277 students were enrolled at Kiel University in the academic term 2015/2016. The study programs related to business administration and economics registered 3.572 students in total. 1.219 students were registered in courses of business administration (or related) whereas 1.386 focussed their studies on economics. 331 students majored other fields related to social sciences. Furthermore 2.039 foreign students were enrolled at Kiel University in 2016.

At Kiel University, business administration is represented by two institutes:

  • the Institute of Business Administration and
  • the Institute for Innovation Research.

 

 

 

 

 

Both institutes are assigned to the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences (which is in turn one out of eight faculties).

The faculty includes as well:

  • the Institute of Economics,
  • the Institute for Quantitative Business and Economic Research (QBER),
  • the Institute for Regional Research,
  • the Institute of Statistics and Econometrics and
  • the Institute of Social Sciences.

Professorships

The studies in business administration are organized by the Institute of Business Administration. The other institutes of the faculty as well as further faculties of our university, such as the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, as well as the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences are also involved in these studies.

The courses in the field of business administration are provided by 13 professorships. The professorships Personal und Organisation (HRM and Organization), Unternehmensrechnung und Unternehmensbesteuerung (Company Accounting and Business Taxation) and Service Science are new established in 2017. The professors, the focus in research and teaching and the lectures will be published in the winter term 2017/2018.
